LiveScan is a 100% paperless and inkless fingerprint identification solution, which allows operators to capture accurate, digital fingerprints and palm-prints and send images electronically in a matter of minutes. With its biometric DNA, LiveScan is particularly suited for use in law enforcement agencies and civil environments.
Capture and send prints in seconds
If any single fingerprint identification application is proof that technology has taken over, it is LiveScan. 100% paperless and inkless, LiveScan allows an operator to capture stunningly accurate, ultra-quality digital fingerprints and palm-prints.
With its robust biometric DNA, LiveScan is ideally suited for use in law enforcement agencies and civil environments.
And the system is equally easy to use whether you’re identifying criminals or monitoring employees. LiveScan captures the fingerprint of a subject and sends the converted digital image electronically in just minutes. And its seamless operation and rapid capture-to-booking system lets you customise business rules and integrate with new scanner hardware.
An important feature of LiveScan is the two-way XML data interchange. This function eliminates redundant data entry and expedites any investigation.
How accurate is LiveScan fingerprinting?
With no ink involved in the booking process, NEC’s LiveScan system provides a better way for individuals to produce consistently high quality fingerprint images.
It prevents many of the problems associated with ink prints, such as smudging, smearing and over- or under-inking; therefore, reducing rejection rates.
Finger-image capture, printing, storage and transmission are accomplished at one ergonomic workstation, making it very easy to use — even for users who have no prior experience.
How fast are fingerprints identified using LiveScan?
A major benefit of NEC’s LiveScan products is processing speed. Digitising the fingerprint images enables them to be transmitted electronically in a matter of seconds, instead of the days required to send hard copy fingerprint cards through the mail.
The LiveScan image-capture process features a preview capability, allowing each fingerprint to be displayed real-time during capture, providing immediate positive identification often while the booking is still in progress.
Can LiveScan be integrated with other biometric solutions?
The LiveScan products have evolved from standalone capture devices to sophisticated systems integrated with multiple databases. Images can now be captured, transmitted to a central location, and/or interfaced with an Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) for identification processing.
When connected with an AFIS, NEC’s LiveScan can automatically initiate electronic transmission to state and local AFIS, remote identification bureaus and the FBI, which streamlines the entire criminal checking process.
How easy is LiveScan to use?
NEC’s LiveScan system features an intuitive user interface and an easy-to-follow menu that requires minimal training and accelerates user adoption.
With NEC’s LiveScan, finger-image capture, printing, storage and transmission are accomplished at one ergonomic workstation, making it very easy to use — even for users who have no prior experience.
LiveScan made smart
In our latest development, NEC transforms LiveScan biometric technology with SmartScan a sleek, scalable, secure and easy to operate solution that manages forensic-grade fingerprint, palm print, facial and iris images. There is also a cabinet, called the UnCabinet, that provides a better alternative to capturing these multi-modal biometric images.
SmartScan offers a modern, user-friendly interface with the Microsoft Windows 10 operating system. Touch screens, with swipe and pinch-and-zoom functionality, are as familiar to operators as using their mobile devices. This modern, intuitive interface guides the operator through the record creation process minimizing errors and increasing efficiency.
SmartScan Stations can be delivered in different configurations from cabinet, desktop and portable, and depending on the needs of a department or agency, our solution offers support for many different peripherals and modes of capture.
With so much personal data captured, NEC’s LiveScan system must be secure from malware, hacking and unauthorised access. Multifactor authentication and virtualisation-based security is available to protect credentials, roles and system privileges.
